1989 Stevens 50 Custom:
INTRODUCTION:
Designed by Sparkman & Stephens, famed for America's Cup winning designs as well as the legendary Nautor Swan line, Mystic Muse is a high-performance, blue water yacht hand made in Taiwan under the direction of Bill Stevens Following a complete restoration and modernization, she blends the best of classic custom build quality with the best of modern equipment, creating the ultimate short-handed fast-passage yacht,Comfortable, fast, strong, manageable.
Mystic Muse is at ease and easily handled in heavy weather, having delivered her single-handed skipper nicely through squalls in excess of 50 knots On one recent passage, she averaged 10+knots for over 15 hours in 30+ knots of breeze, with wind and 3 meter swells at 60 degrees Her displacement and shape allow her to carry speed through heavy swells in ways that lighter modern production boats cannot, giving her "real world" passage-making performance even to windward.
See the included polar graph for performance data gathered from onboard electronics.
At the same time, her gentle motion makes her easy on guests unaccustomed to life at sea.
Her fully skeg-hung rudder and solid coreless GRP construction provide peace of mind.
And, her reliable Yanmar turbo diesel allows her to make 8.5 knots under power when needed.
SAILING SETUP:
Roller curler for genoa, managed via cockpit electric Harken winch
Cutter inner stay with Barbosa tensioner; hanked stay-sail
Fully battened, heavy roached main
Running backstays, rigged to allow retrieval removal without leaving cockpit
Four Harken electric winches in the cockpit with 4 rope-clutches leading to each, allow jib sheets, mainsheet, staysail sheets, and more lines to be managed quickly and easily
Raymarine auto helm with RF remote control allows for easy single-handed jibing in any conditions
Aluminum whisker pole allows wing-on-wing, with non-spinnaker performance exceeding 12 knots in following seas
Wide, single-level flush foredeck makes working forward easy and safe
Absolutely huge walk-in cockpit lazarette — you have to see it to believe it, approx 300 cubic feet
Plus stern locker with over 100 cubic feet of storage.
INTERIOR SETUP:
V-berth forward with extensive drawers, closets, and cabinets in solid teak
Full head forward
Crew cabin with bunks and closet just forward of mast
Split kitchen: refer/freezer and pantry to starboard; sink, oven, range, micro to port

There is a massive amount of storage space in this part of the boat.
We use less than half of it.
Seating is so comfortable, you might want to stay below
